Fun run

Sunday, July 9, 6:00 am. This is the time when 5 km fun run was supposed to start. I took part just to check how fit I am since the marathon. Gaining 7 kilos isn’t something good for a runner ;-) Fun run was really fun. A lot of people showed up. It was organized by Mandarin Hotel Health Club and participants were divided into three groups: Mandarin hotel stuff, Health Club members and Open. My target was to finish in 23-25 minutes. At the end I finished in 21’45’’, but somebody with pace meter said the distance was really 4.7 km not sharp 5 km. So I wouldn’t really refer to the time. What counts though is the 3rd place in Health Club members male category ;-) I got a medal and small prizes. At least one good news…

After another 6 dives

First weekend of July I went for another 3 day diving trip. This time I wanted to maximize number of dives and end up with 6 of them. 4 of them happened in Puerto Galera but 2 took place next to Verde Island, which is much more deserted and wild. I could feel that. The first dive there was one of the best dives I had in my life. Why? Difficult to say, it had that something I love about diving.

This dive reminded me of the character of Jacques Mayol from Big Blue (also real man). I always thought that I can completely understand him but during this dive I realized that I didn’t because there was another bottom that I could go beyond only being deep down there, feeling this majesty, calmness, space like atmosphere and this faint scent of fear of the unknown. Or maybe I just got high with nitrogen, since this was my deepest dive ever – 45 m ;-)

Next day I went even deeper to 52 meters – decompression dive. Given that limit for recreational diving is 40 meters and no deco dives at all, I don’t think I’ll go any deeper with regular compressed air in my tank. So next step would be going for tech diving, but this is another story I guess.
